The New Hamburg Firebirds pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Simcoe Storm on a clutch goal by Jaden Goetz. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Simcoe faces elimination next time out. New Hamburg came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Firebirds trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by the Storm's Darrin Pye at 8:41 in the second period. New Hamburg knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Nick Pope at 12:57 in the third period. The Firebirds got the win thanks to a great game by Kyle Mohr, who had one goal and two assists. Mohr scored 15:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Simcoe. Pope picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:30 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. New Hamburg kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Gegeny made 35 saves on 39 shots. New Hamburg additionally got points from Eric Fischer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Pope, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for New Hamburg came via Taylor Wood, Connor Voigt, and Trevor Sweetland, who contributed one a piece. The Storm had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances. Simcoe also got points from Justin Tatrie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Simcoe also got a goal from Conner Robinson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Braden Roberts, who had two and Clayton Chalmers, Jamie Kelly, and Nathan Kohler, who each chipped in one. Eric Peicheff made 26 saves for the Firebirds on 29 shots. New Hamburg totaled 39 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Firebirds ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam Murray was ejected from the game. Simcoe ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major. For the Storm, Braedan Walker was ejected from the game.
