Midland survives Stayner comeback, wins 4-3

The Midland Flyers came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Stayner Siskins, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory.

Midland led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Flyers' Cody Beasley's scored at 12:38 in the first period to put Midland up 3-0.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Stayner faces elimination next time out.

The Flyers were led by Jacob Busch, who racked up one goal. Busch scored on the power play 16:39 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Midland. Midland had taken the advantage when the Siskins' James Mense-Dietrich got sent off for cross checking. Cam Lintner picked up the assist.

Stayner was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Midland eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Midland also got points from Lintner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Marty Lawlor AP also scored for Midland. More assists for Midland came via Jason Leigh, Daniel Pickering, Jordan Gravelle, Tyson Clark, and Cooper Jefferson, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins' offense rang up 41 shots on the Flyers' net. Team could not crack Midland's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 12 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Stayner was helped by Mike Mullay, who tallied one goal. Mullay scored on the power play 14:24 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Midland. The Siskins earned a power play opportunity when Nathanial Jessop was put in the box for interference. Hayden Shackleton assisted on the tally. Stayner additionally got points from Justin Reid, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stayner also got a goal from Nick Izgerean as well. In addition, Stayner received assists from Will Gerow, Alex Richardson, and Jason Seeley, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers' Marco Colangelo stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Midland incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Taylor Trace rejected 37 shots on goal for Stayner. The Siskins incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
