Dundas falls to Glanbrook in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Alexander Cappelletti gave the Glanbrook Rangers a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Dundas Blues when he scored 13:43 into the extra period.

The win gave Glanbrook a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Dundas could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. The Rangers made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Roger Sherwood at 6:38 in the second period. The Blues pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Kevin Jaczenko at 2:43 in the third period.

Glanbrook got the win with help from a great game by Cappelletti, who had two goals and two assists. Cappelletti scored the first of his two goals at 7:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Glanbrook. Connor McLoughlin assisted on the tally. Cappelletti's next tally made the score 4-3 Glanbrook with 6:17 left in overtime. Sherwood picked up the assist.

The Rangers' offense rang up 31 shots on Dundas' net. Glanbrook was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Sherwood, who also registered two goals and one assist. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Nicolas Kuiper, who had one and Curtis Edwards, who had two.

The Blues kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Sagrott made 40 saves on 43 shots.

Dundas was led by Brett Dell, who racked up two goals. Dell scored the first of his two goals at 6:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Wiley assisted on the tally. Dell's next tally made the score 3-3 with 5:13 left in the third period. The Blues were on a disadvantage when Matt Charbonneau went off the ice for charging. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Mitch Reid and Mark Sinclair, who each chipped in one.

Glanbrook incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dundas' Sinclair stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Blues totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Dundas, Mitch Moriarity and Charbonneau were ejected from the contest.
