Grimsby hangs on, beats Dunnville 3-1Dunnville Memorial Arena Tue, Feb 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings beat the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Grimsby took over the lead for good with a goal by Adam Burt at 1:33 in the first period. ZaK McQuade picked up the assist.The win by the Peach Kings clinched the best of seven series at 4-2. Richard Recchia had a great game for Grimsby, netting two goals. Recchia found the back of the net 5:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby and again while on the power play 5:56 into the third to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. The Peach Kings were led by goalie Jeremy Currie, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Currie certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.83 entering the contest. More assists for Grimsby came via Colin Isnor, Anthony Pullia, Cooper Naugoris, and Jacob Tuck, who each chipped in one. Dunnville forced Grimsby goalie Currie to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Jr. Mudcats were led by Troy Pieterse, who scored the team's only goal. Pieterse scored on the power play 7:07 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Dunnville had gained a power play chance when Naugoris was whistled for interference. Ryan Pilon assisted on the tally. The Peach Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Josh Rosettani rejected 25 shots on goal for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jr. Mudcats ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Springer was ejected from the game.
