Grimsby uses early goal to top Dunnville, 1-0

Mathew Paonessa gave the Grimsby Peach Kings the lead in the first period, and the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 1-0.

A goal 15:31 into the the first period by Paonessa proved to be the game winner, and powered Grimsby to the victory.

With the win, the Peach Kings evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Grimsby was boosted by Jeremy Currie, who turned in a shutout with 27 saves. Currie certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.5 entering the contest.

The Peach Kings were led by Paonessa, who had one goal.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Dunnville was unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Jr. Mudcats did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

The Peach Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Josh Rosettani made 39 saves for Dunnville on 40 shots.
