Dunnville holds on for 5-3 win against GrimsbyPeach King Arena Wed, Feb 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. A goal by Troy Pieterse put Dunnville up 5-2 in the third period, but Grimsby pulled to within two on Andrew Kolodzey's tally 16:26 into the third period. The win by the Jr. Mudcats broke a deadlock and gave Dunnville a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. The Peach Kings' power play was ineffective against the Jr. Mudcats' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Dunnville was helped by Andrew McMurtrie, who finished with one goal. McMurtrie scored 3:46 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Dunnville. Evan Huckalo provided the assist. Dunnville also got points from Bret Golding, who also registered one goal and one assist and Pieterse, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Damien Lalonde also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Landon Minor, who had two and Hayden Molen, Ryan Pilon, Ryan Turner, and Shawn Anthony, who each chipped in one. Grimsby forced the Jr. Mudcats goalie Josh Rosettani to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Grimsby also got a goal from ZaK McQuade as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Richard Recchia, Robert Wormald, Jacob Tuck, and Peter Shantz, who contributed one a piece. Dunnville's Rosettani stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 48 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors. Jeremy Currie rejected 22 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
