Oakville blows out Orangeville, 8-2

The Oakville Blades had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over the Orangeville Flyers.

Patrick Chore had two goals and two assists to lead Oakville. Chore scored the first of his two goals at 2:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Nathan Renouf assisted on the tally. Chore's next tally made the score 7-2 Oakville with 5:40 left in the third period. Jonah Renouf picked up the assist.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Oakville forced Orangeville goalie Taylor Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Blades bested their season scoring average. Oakville has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Oakville also got points from Renouf, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Renouf, who also registered one goal and three assists. Oakville also got a goal from Sean Perichak as well. More assists for Oakville came via Greg Campbell, who had two and Aidan Orbinski, Matt Alvaro, Zach Berg, Stefan Leblanc, Kyle Jenkins, and Luke Laidlaw, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Orangeville wound up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Spencer Bacon made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Orangeville was led by Angelpooulos Peter, who racked up one goal. Peter scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Mathew Thompson assisted on the tally. Nicholas Geiser also scored for Orangeville.

Oakville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Welsh rejected 31 shots on goal for the Flyers.
