Hughes leads Kincardine over Mitchell, 6-3

Behind a great game by Adam Hughes, who had one goal and two assists, the Kincardine Bulldogs defeated the Mitchell Hawks, 6-3.

Hughes beat Ben Nelson with a shot 5:11 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mike Sharpe picked up the assist. Hughes dished an assist on Cody Britton's goal that made the score 1-1 at 13:10 into the first period. He added another helper on Garrett Simmons's goal that made the score 6-3 Kincardine at 9:51 into the third period.

The win by Kincardine clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Bulldogs forced Mitchell goalie Nelson to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Kincardine also got points from Jarred Colling, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kincardine also got a goal from Jamie Miller as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kincardine were Hayden Allen, Gerritt Satosek, and Tanner Simpson, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' offense rang up 41 shots on Kincardine's net.

Mitchell was helped by Nathan Templeman, who finished with one goal. Templeman scored 9:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mitchell. Luke Salter assisted on the tally. Mitchell additionally got points from Tyler Tolton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brent Rae, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Mitchell came via Derek MacDonald, Jalen Aitcheson, and Nick Tybik, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs' Gatlin Burt stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Kincardine incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Ben Nelson made 30 saves for the Hawks on 36 shots. Mitchell incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
