Kincardine shrugs off penalties, upends Mitchell, 4-1

The Mitchell Hawks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Kincardine Bulldogs shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1.

The win gave Kincardine a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Bulldogs were led by Gerritt Satosek, who finished with one goal. Satosek scored short handed 9:09 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Kincardine. Kincardine played down a man on Adam Hughes's slashing. Justin Ainslie provided the assist.

The Bulldogs kept Mitchell's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Nelson made 30 saves on 34 shots. Kincardine excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Hawks to get one power play goal on 13 chances.

Kincardine also got a goal from Jordan Cale as well. More assists for Kincardine came via Cody Britton, who had two and Jamie Miller and Tanner Simpson, who contributed one a piece.

Mitchell was led by Luke Salter, who scored the team's only goal. Salter scored on the power play 14:29 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kincardine. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Bulldogs' Cale was sent off for cross checking. Jerry Ennet assisted on the tally.

Gatlin Burt made 19 saves for Kincardine on 20 shots. The Bulldogs incurred 54 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Mitchell incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
