Mount Forest falls apart in second, loses to Walkerton, 7-1

The Walkerton Hawks used a four-goal second period to put away the Mount Forest Patriots, 7-1.

The win by Walkerton clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

Adam Alexander had one goal and two assists to lead the Hawks. Alexander scored 19:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Walkerton. Haden Campbell picked up the assist.

Walkerton's Jeff Flagler was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Flagler will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.67.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Mount Forest was unable to stop Walkerton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Walkerton also got points from Connor Patton, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Lauchlin Elder, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Campbell, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Wade Pfeffer also scored for Walkerton. More assists for Walkerton came via Joel Bowman, who had two and Jordan Turcotte, David Gallo, and Austin Russell, who contributed one a piece.

The Patriots forced Walkerton goalie Flagler to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Hawks incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Luke Bierworth recorded 31 saves for Mount Forest. The Patriots incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
