Ben Davis lifted the Mount Forest Patriots to a 7-4 victory with a hat trick against the Walkerton Hawks. Davis got on the scoresheet 10:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:02 into the second and at 19:53 into the third.The win gave Mount Forest a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Patriots forced Walkerton's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 57 shots and forcing 50 saves. Jeff Flagler made 44 stops and Justin Hammond made six. Mount Forest also got points from Dave Culliton, who also registered one goal and one assist and Trevor Hughson, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Mount Forest also got a goal from Luke Richardson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Wade Mackey and Cody Wright, who contributed one a piece. The Hawks forced Mount Forest goalie Luke Bierworth to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Walkerton was helped by Brandon Lamothe, who had one goal. Lamothe scored 13:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Haden Campbell picked up the assist. Walkerton additionally got points from Campbell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Drew Davidson also scored for Walkerton. More assists for Walkerton came via Jordan Turcotte, Adam Alexander, David Gallo, Connor Patton, Lauchlin Elder, and Austin Russell, who each chipped in one. Bierworth rejected 44 shots on goal for the Patriots. Mount Forest incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Hawks incurred 52 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
