Trenton uses big second period to beat Kingston, 9-2

The Trenton Golden Hawks scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Kingston Voyageurs and clinch a 9-2 win.

Trenton was led by Alex Leader, who finished with one goal and one assist. Leader scored 6:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Nick Marinac picked up the assist.

The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 50 shots on Kingston's net. Trenton outdid its season average for goals scored. The Golden Hawks have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Trenton got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Trenton also got points from Jordan Minello, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Mike Nedoszytko, who also had one goal and two assists, Shawn Hulshof, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Truman Landowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ori Abramson also scored for Trenton. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Dillon Warner and Brady Wiffen, who each chipped in one and Nolan Martin and Sammy Banga, who contributed two a piece.

The the Voyageurs penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game Kingston had been spending in the box. The Voyageurs' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Kingston gives up 2.4 goals per game.

The Voyageurs were helped by Dylan Hutton, who finished with one goal. Hutton scored 9:53 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Trenton. Graham Yeo provided the assist. Kingston also got a goal from Chad Duchesne as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Ludlow Harris, who had one.

Victor Adamo made 22 saves for the Golden Hawks on 24 shots. Trenton totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Loren Ulett was ejected from the game. Colin Dzijacky recorded 41 saves for Kingston. The Voyageurs registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Kris Grant, Michael Casale, and Harris were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
