Achiever NE Academy holds on for 7-5 win against Kittson CentralHallock Ice Arena Mon, Feb 11, 2013 The Kittson Central Wolfpack tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Achiever NE Academy Aces would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5. Achiever NE Academy made the score 7-4 on a goal by Cory Sprague at 12:28 in the third period, and Kittson Central got as close as 7-5 when Kyle Petersburg scored 15:24 into the third period. The Aces got the win with help from a great game by Baron Thompson, who had two goals and one assist. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 2:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kittson Central. Ryan Finnegan provided the assist. Thompson's next tally made the score 6-4 Achiever NE Academy with 9:20 left in the third period. Achiever NE Academy excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Achiever NE Academy also got points from Sprague, who also registered three goals and one assist and Finnegan, who also finished with two goals and two assists. In addition, Achiever NE Academy received assists from Matt Minish, who had one. The Wolfpack were led by Dalton Klegstad, who tallied two goals. Klegstad scored the first of his two goals at 3:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kittson Central. Petersburg assisted on the tally. Klegstad's next tally made the score 3-0 Kittson Central with 16:25 left in the first period. Kittson Central additionally got points from Petersburg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Zach Gatheridge also scored for Kittson Central. Other players who recorded assists for Kittson Central were Anders Lindegard and Billy Thorsteinson, who contributed one a piece. Cameron Madrid made 19 saves for the Aces on 24 shots. Achiever NE Academy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tucker Cosley rejected 17 shots on goal for Kittson Central. The Wolfpack incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
