Dorchester rips Port Stanley, 6-1

The Port Stanley Sailors had trouble finding ways to stop the Dorchester Dolphins, which beat Sailors, 6-1.

The win by Dorchester clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Dolphins were led by goalie Patrick Maziarz, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Maziarz managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.0 prior to the game.

Dorchester's penalty kill excelled, as the Dolphins gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:45 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Dorchester stifled Port Stanley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dolphins forced the Sailors goalie Brandon Garner to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Dorchester was helped by Liam Gillooly, who racked up one goal. Gillooly scored 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dorchester. Shayne Rhyno assisted on the tally. Dorchester also got points from Jacob Baribeau, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dorchester included Chad Brulotte, who had two and Chris Buckholz and Patrick Freel, who each put in one. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Brady Veroughstraete, Matt Cormier, and Brendon O Shaughnessy, who contributed one a piece and Tyler Blue and Tommy Prokes, who each chipped in two.

Port Stanley was led by Taylor Schram, who scored the team's only goal. Schram scored 4:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dorchester. Tyler Beaulieu picked up the assist.

The Dolphins totaled 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors and went 3-for-8 on the power play. Team's Jordan Fuller and Gillooly were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Garner recorded 41 saves for the Sailors. Port Stanley ended with 48 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and two majors. For the Sailors, Ryan McDonnell and Luke McGuire were ejected from the contest.
