Ayr boosted by Figueirdo's play in net, beats Tavistock 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Mitch Figueirdo helped the Ayr Centennials defeat the Tavistock Braves, 4-1.

The win by Ayr clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Brady Wheelans was all over the ice for the Centennials, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Wheelans' tallies came on the power play at 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr and 2:03 into the second to make the score 3-0 Ayr.

Ayr excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Tavistock was unable to stop the Centennials from sending pucks towards the net, and Ayr eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Andrew Richard also scored for Ayr. In addition, Ayr received assists from Declan Kaster, Logan Beechey, Jordan Pettitt, Alex Richard, Alex Mutton, and Nathan Redford, who each chipped in one.

The Braves were led by Jordan Ritsma, who scored the team's only goal. Ritsma scored 4:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ayr. Charlie Malson picked up the assist.

Figueirdo recorded 28 saves for the Centennials. Ayr incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Taylor VanBockel made 33 saves for Tavistock on 37 shots. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
