Ayr rolls over Tavistock, 6-1

The Ayr Centennials had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Tavistock Braves.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Tavistock faces elimination next time out.

Ayr's Mitch Figueirdo was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Figueirdo certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.4 entering the contest.

The Centennials were paced by Alex Richard, who registered one goal. Richard scored 12:44 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr. Nick Hirs assisted on the tally.

Ayr forced the Braves' goalies to work in net, launching 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Tim Parker made 26 stops and Taylor VanBockel made zero.

Ayr also had goals scored by Andrew Richard, who had two and Adam Fisher, Alex Mutton, and Brady Wheelans, who each put in one. More assists for Ayr came via Declan Kaster, who had two and Ben Poort, Jordan Eby, Brandon Christopher, Brett Gibson, Jordan Pettitt, Mike Wilkins, Mike McKnight, and Nathan Redford, who contributed one a piece.

Deven Kropf also scored for Tavistock. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Derek Cowing and Andrew Schacht, who each chipped in one.

The Centennials incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tavistock incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
