Lambton Shores survives St. Marys comeback, wins 7-5

The Lambton Shores Predators, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Lambton Shores and clinched a 7-5 victory.

The Predators led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Lambton Shores' Ryan Rontondi's scored on the power play at 1:42 in the second period to put the Predators up 4-0.

Lambton Shores was paced by Kalvin Thornton, who grabbed one goal. Thornton scored 12:23 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Lambton Shores. Dillon Liberty picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, the St. Marys Lincolns were led by Calvin Penney, who had two goals and two assists. Penney scored the first of his two goals at 8:25 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Lambton Shores. Owen MacDonald assisted on the tally. Penney's next tally made the score 6-5 Lambton Shores with 6:21 left in the third period. A hooking penalty on Bryan Boersma had put St. Marys on the power play. Tyson Baker picked up the assist.

The Predators forced the Lincolns' goalies to work in net, ripping 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Jacob Theut made eight stops and Craig Wood made 16. Lambton Shores bested its season scoring average. The Predators average 3.4 goals per game.

Lambton Shores also got points from Rontondi, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Kyle Brothers, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Cale Duberry, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Matteo Ciccarelli as well. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Nick Sproveiro, Tanner Ferguson, Ryan Fraser, and Ferdinando Colella, who each chipped in two.

St. Marys' offense rang up 40 shots on Lambton Shores' net.

St. Marys additionally got points from MacDonald, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Chandler Allen also scored for St. Marys. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were David Sproat, who had three and Kurtis Lavis, Tyler Bryson, and Cody Filson, who contributed one a piece.

Justin Tugwell made 35 saves for the Predators on 40 shots. Lambton Shores incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Lincolns incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
