Behind a great game by Nick Halliday, who had four goals, the Hagersville Hawks defeated the Wellesley Applejacks, 6-3. Halliday's first goal came 16:14 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:05 into the second, at 9:03 into the third, and at 17:45 into the third.The win moved Hagersville to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 46 penalty minutes. Hagersville forced Wellesley's goaltenders to work all game long, launching 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Josh Heer made 31 stops and Corey Tuffnail made seven. The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Applejacks to score on any of their eight power plays. Hayden Baird also scored for Hagersville. More assists for Hagersville came via Mitch Green, who had two, Jesse Ross, who had three, Brad Hornby, who had four, and Kyle Parsons and Derek Medeiros, who each chipped in one. Wellesley was helped by Devon Wagner, who finished with one goal. Wagner scored 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Luke Rose provided the assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Steven Tait as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Troy Williams, Corey Way, and Tyler Eckert, who each chipped in one. Aaron Cormier made 14 saves for Hagersville on 17 shots. The Hawks registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. The Applejacks incurred 54 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Wellesley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Ariss was ejected from the game.
