Lambeth shrugs off penalties, upends Thamesford, 6-2

Lambeth Arena    Sun, Feb 10, 2013

The Thamesford Trojans failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Lambeth Lancers shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Thamesford faces elimination next time out.

Lambeth was led by Mitch Furlonger, who grabbed one goal. Furlonger scored on the power play 12:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lambeth. A tripping penalty on Ben Kirwin had put the Lancers on the power play. Carter Allen assisted on the tally.

The Trojans were unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Lambeth's penalty kill managed to stymie Thamesford's power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down.

Lambeth also got points from Mike Golinowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Greg Douglas, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Warren Hargraves, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nick North also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Ryan Pennington, Justin Clark, Conor Chilvers, and Riley Gilmore, who contributed one a piece.

The Trojans forced the Lancers goalie JP Trudell to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Thamesford was helped by Adam Levine, who grabbed one goal. Levine scored on the power play 5:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thamesford. The Trojans earned a power play opportunity when Furlonger was put in the box for interference. Kyle Walker provided the assist. Thamesford also got a goal from James Toye as well. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Andrew McLennan, who had one.
