DeLaet lifts Essex over Kingsville, 5-1

Behind a great game by Colin DeLaet, who had two goals, the Essex 73s defeated the Kingsville Comets, 5-1.

DeLaet scored at 13:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Essex and again while 14:25 into the third to make the score 3-1 Essex.

The win by Essex clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Kingsville was unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Essex also got points from Alex Garon, who also registered one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Scott Bromley as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Daniel Slipchuck, who had two and Marco Canzoneri, Kevin Boggs, Colin Moore, and Chad Hedrick, who contributed one a piece.

The Comets were led by Justin Parker, who scored the team's only goal. Parker scored 3:51 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Robert Jardine assisted on the tally.

Arren Romeril recorded 16 saves for Essex. The 73s incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kingsville's Lane Parent stopped 41 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Comets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
