Hanover penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of MitchellP and H Centre Wed, Feb 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mitchell Hawks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Hanover Barons shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2. With the win, Hanover evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. The Barons were led by Jason Demetrius, who registered one goal and one assist. Demetrius scored 19 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Hanover. Matt Drake provided the assist. Hanover's offense rang up 39 shots on Mitchell's net. Hanover also got points from Robbie Moe, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Hanover also had goals scored by Justin Graham, who had one and Tanner Bastien, who had two. More assists for Hanover came via Josh Steffler, who had two and Tyler Cunningham and Zach Zuback, who each chipped in one. The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Mitchell was helped by Scott Fries, who tallied one goal. Fries scored on the power play 16:00 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Hanover. A inciting an opponent penalty on Brad Pitt had put the Hawks on the power play. Tyler Tolton picked up the assist. Mitchell also got a goal from Jerry Ennet as well. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Jade Maxwell, Brent Rae, and Nathan Templeman, who contributed one a piece. Mitch Campbell made 26 saves for the Barons on 28 shots. Hanover incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Ben Nelson rejected 34 shots on goal for Mitchell. The Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
