Kittson Central erases deficit to stun Wadena-Deer Creek, 5-4

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Kittson Central Wolfpack battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

Kittson Central let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Wolfpack took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Kyle Petersburg at 12:49 in the second period. Kittson Central found itself down 2-0 after Wadena-Deer Creek's Bridger Pettit put the puck home at 15:07 in the first period. After evening things up at 4-4 on a short handed goal by Mitchell Swanson at 5:38 in the third, the Wolfpack got the game-winner from Alex Vagle at 6:07 in the third period.

Kittson Central pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

The Wolfpack kept the Wolverines' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wesley Janson made 36 saves on 41 shots.

Kittson Central additionally got points from Billy Thorsteinson, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kittson Central also got a goal from Joey Pastir as well. More assists for Kittson Central came via Dalton Klegstad, who had two and Scott Mortenson, Alex Strege, and Anders Lindegard, who each chipped in one.

Christian Berg also scored for Wadena-Deer Creek.

Tucker Cosley made 22 saves for Kittson Central on 26 shots. The Wolfpack registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Wadena-Deer Creek incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
