Belle River survives Mooretown comeback, wins 3-2

The Mooretown Flags tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Belle River Canadiens would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Chris DiNatale put Belle River up 3-1 in the second period, but Mooretown pulled to within one on Jeff Schroeter's tally 16:47 into the third period.

The win by the Canadiens clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Belle River was led by DiNatale, who racked up one goal and one assist. DiNatale scored 19:31 into the second period to make the score Belle River. Mark Manchurek picked up the assist.

The Canadiens stifled the Flags' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Belle River additionally got points from Manchurek, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Donnovan Plummer also scored for Belle River. In addition, Belle River received assists from Branden Larocque, who had two and Billy Eansor and Jason Clarke, who contributed one a piece.

Mooretown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Belle River power plays.

Mooretown also got a goal from Caden Fleming as well. More assists for Mooretown came via Ryan Jennings, Alec Rutherford, Riley Roberts, and Frankie White, who each chipped in one.

Zakk Olvin made 23 saves for Belle River on 25 shots. The Canadiens incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brandon Johnson rejected 19 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and three majors and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For the Flags, McGregor Haddon and Schroeter were ejected from the contest.
