Paxton leads Dresden to shutout victory over Blenheim

The Dresden Kings used a sparkling performance by Brent Paxton to take down the Blenheim Blades, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Dresden's 5-0 shutout victory.

The win by the Kings clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Dresden was sparked by Jesse Allen, who registered one goal and one assist. Allen scored 4:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Keith Maisonville provided the assist.

The Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Blenheim power plays. Dresden's offense rang up 32 shots on Blenheim's net.

Dresden additionally got points from Jeremy Griffore, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Derek VanEvery also scored for Dresden. Other players who recorded assists for Dresden were Dylan Mertz, Alex Ritchie, and Derek Daly, who each chipped in one.

The Blades forced the Kings goalie Paxton to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Paxton recorded 34 saves for Dresden. The Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Blenheim's Justin Pratt stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Blades incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
