Dresden survives Blenheim comeback, wins 3-2

The Dresden Kings, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Dresden and clinched a 3-2 victory.

The Kings led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Dresden's Cam Ross's scored at 11:38 in the first period to put the Kings up 3-0.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Blenheim Blades face elimination next time out.

Dresden was helped by Alex Ritchie, who had one goal. Ritchie scored on the power play 6:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dresden. The Kings had gained a power play chance when Taylor Phillips was whistled for boarding. Dylan Mertz picked up the assist. Dresden also got points from Mertz, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Dresden received assists from Jeremy Griffore and Jesse Allen, who each chipped in one.

Blenheim was led by Zack Horvath, who finished with one goal and one assist. Horvath scored on the power play 9:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dresden. The Blades earned a power play opportunity when Josh Beatty was put in the box for cross checking. Matt Speed assisted on the tally. Blenheim also got a goal from Kirk McKillop as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Cam Aitken and Jordan Durston, who contributed one a piece.

Brent Paxton made 19 saves for Dresden on 21 shots. The Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Dylan Vanderpol recorded 23 saves for Blenheim. The Blades totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. For Blenheim, Shawn Hope was ejected from the game.
