Paxton stymies Blenheim, Dresden wins 2-1Blenheim Memorial Arena Wed, Feb 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brent Paxton stood on his head and made 25 saves to lead the Dresden Kings to a 2-1 victory over the Blenheim Blades. With the win, Dresden evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The Kings were sparked by Dylan Mertz, who finished with one goal. Mertz scored 5:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Josh Beatty picked up the assist. Dresden also got points from Beatty, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Dresden received assists from Keith Maisonville and Jesse Allen, who contributed one a piece. Blenheim's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Dresden power plays. The Blades were led by Tyler Clarke, who scored the team's only goal. Clarke scored on the power play 1:07 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Justin Rossignol provided the assist. Dresden incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blenheim's Dylan Vanderpol stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
