Dundas outlasts Chippawa, 4-2Niagara Jr. C Head Office Tue, Feb 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dundas Blues gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Chippawa Riverhawks. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mitch Reid secured the win for Dundas with a goal in the second period. The win by the Blues clinched the best of seven series at 4-2. Chippawa's power play was ineffective against Dundas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Blues were led by Kevin Jaczenko, who registered one goal and one assist. Jaczenko scored 18:51 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Dundas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Riverhawks were unable to stop the Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Dundas also got points from Matt Charbonneau, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Derek Searle also scored for Dundas. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Nick McMullen, who had one. Chippawa kept the Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Sinclair made 34 saves on 36 shots. The Riverhawks were helped by Tyler Stranges, who grabbed one goal. Stranges scored 18:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Dundas. Chippawa also got a goal from Curtis Sauve as well. Dundas incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Colin Dunne made 29 saves for Chippawa on 31 shots. The Riverhawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
