Chippawa rips Dundas, 5-1

The Dundas Blues had trouble finding ways to stop the Chippawa Riverhawks, which beat Blues, 5-1.

After the loss made the series score 2-3 in the best of seven series, Dundas faces elimination next time out.

Dylan Lazarus was all over the ice for Chippawa, as he finished with two goals in the win. Lazarus scored at 2:09 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Chippawa and again while 2:46 into the third to make the score 4-1 Chippawa.

The Riverhawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Dundas power plays. The Blues were unable to stop Chippawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Riverhawks eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Chris Maione also scored for Chippawa. Other players who recorded assists for Chippawa were Kyle Robertson, who had two and Curtis Sauve, Thomas Cole, Tyler Stranges, Alex Cipriano, Daniel Heidebrect, and Brayden Stortz, who contributed one a piece.

Dundas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 14 chances. The Blues forced Chippawa goalie Colin Dunne to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Dundas was led by Matt Tate, who scored the team's only goal. Tate scored 19:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Chippawa. Garret Incze provided the assist.

The Riverhawks' Dunne stopped 34 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Chippawa incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Team's Chris Harpur and Sauve were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mark Sinclair made 40 saves for the Blues on 45 shots. Dundas incurred 72 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For the Blues, Incze, Alex Aquin, and Dan Pelosini were ejected from the contest.
