St. George falls to Dunnville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' Landon Minor scored 4:51 into overtime to beat the St. George Dukes, 5-4 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, St. George faces elimination next time out.

Although Dunnville was up by as many as three goals in the third period, the Dukes kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. St. George pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Alex Pozzobon at 18:58 in the third period.

Minor had two goals to lead the Jr. Mudcats to victory.

Dunnville forced the Dukes goalie Tyler Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Jr. Mudcats had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Hayden Molen also scored for Dunnville. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Ryan Pilon, who had four and Evan Huckalo, Brandon Schmalz, Luke Rowe, and Tyler Springer, who each chipped in one.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

St. George was led by Alex Whiffing, who tallied two goals and one assist. Whiffing scored the first of his two goals at 9:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. George. Josh Tremblay provided the assist. Whiffing's next tally made the score 4-4 with 46 seconds left in the third period. St. George also got points from Tremblay, who also registered one goal and one assist and Pozzobon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, St. George received assists from Brodie Smith, who had one.

Josh Rosettani recorded 24 saves for Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Tyler Lewis made 31 saves for the Dukes on 36 shots. St. George incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
