Aaron Armstrong had two goals and one assist to lead the Wingham Ironmen to a 5-1 victory over the Mount Forest Patriots. Armstrong scored on the power play at 1:32 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wingham and again while 8:00 into the third to make the score 4-1 Wingham.The win by Wingham broke a deadlock and gave the Ironmen a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Wingham's Keegan Woodman was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Woodman certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.27 entering the contest. The Ironmen kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and Luke Bierworth made 39 saves on 44 shots. Wingham excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Patriots to get one power play goal on 11 chances. Wingham also got points from Justin Jacklin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cole Pellett also scored for Wingham. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Derek Elliott, who had two, Blair Goss, who had four, and Darren Kerr and Nic Carter, who contributed one a piece. Mount Forest forced the Ironmen goalie Woodman to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Patriots were led by Dean Nixon, who scored the team's only goal. Nixon scored on the power play 5:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wingham. A slashing penalty on Elliott had put Mount Forest on the power play. Ben Davis picked up the assist. Wingham incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. The Patriots incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
