Mount Forest falls to Wingham in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Wingham Ironmen's Derek Elliott scored 4:43 into overtime to beat the Mount Forest Patriots, 3-2 (OT).

The win gave Wingham a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Ironmen were sparked by Elliott, who registered one goal and one assist.

Wingham kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and Luke Bierworth made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Wingham also got a goal from Justin Jacklin as well. In addition, Wingham received assists from Joey Terwoord, who had one.

The Patriots were helped by Ben Davis, who finished with one goal. Davis scored on the power play 17:30 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Mount Forest had gained a power play chance when Dylan Williams was whistled for slashing. Dean Nixon picked up the assist. Nathan Woodard also scored for Mount Forest. More assists for Mount Forest came via Doug Costanzo, who had one.

The Ironmen's Keegan Woodman stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Wingham incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Patriots incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
