Campbell nets hat trick, leads Walkerton to 11-2 win over Goderich

A hat trick by Haden Campbell was the highlight in Hawks' 11-2 win against the Goderich Sailors.

Campbell got on the scoresheet 1:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:05 into the first and at 15:59 into the second.

The win by the Walkerton Hawks clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Walkerton made Goderich's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 41 shots and forcing 30 saves. Ben Errington made 19 stops and Tyler MacGregor made 11.

Walkerton additionally got points from Wendel Cameron, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Adam Alexander, who also finished with two goals and two assists, and Lauchlin Elder, who also registered one goal and two assists. Walkerton also got a goal from Drew Davidson as well. More assists for Walkerton came via Wade Pfeffer, who had four, Shane MacDonald and Cole Rooney, who each chipped in one, and Nathan Kramer, Brooks Nelthorpe, and Connor Patton, who contributed two a piece.

The Sailors were helped by Chace Duckworth, who had one goal and one assist. Duckworth scored on the power play 12:30 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Walkerton. Goderich had gotten the advantage when the Hawks' Austin Russell was sent off for tripping. Joseph Dykstra picked up the assist. Matt Kerr also scored for Goderich. In addition, Goderich received assists from Jacob McDougall, who had one.

Jeff Flagler rejected 22 shots on goal for Walkerton. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Sailors incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
