Walkerton rolls over Goderich, 11-1Goderich MRC Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Walkerton Hawks had an eight-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 11-1 win over the Goderich Sailors. The win gave Walkerton a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Drew Davidson was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Davidson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Walkerton. Walkerton earned a power play opportunity when Jacob McDougall was put in the box for checking from behind. Joel Bowman assisted on the tally. Davidson's next tally on the power play made the score 8-1 Walkerton with 2:36 left in the second period. Lauchlin Elder provided the assist. The Hawks made Goderich's goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 46 shots and forcing 35 saves. Ben Errington made 27 stops and Tyler MacGregor made eight. Walkerton also got points from Jay Thomson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Walkerton included Brandon Lamothe, who had two, Adam Alexander, who had four, and Nathan Kramer and Shane MacDonald, who each put in one. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Haden Campbell, who had three, Justin Hammond, Brooks Nelthorpe, Nathan OHagan, and Austin Russell, who contributed one a piece, and Wade Pfeffer and Connor Patton, who each chipped in two. Joseph Dykstra also scored for Goderich. Other players who recorded assists for Goderich were Tom Bedour, who had one. Walkerton's Hammond stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Sailors incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Goderich, McDougall was ejected from the game.
