Lansing Capitals 18U uses shootout to best Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U, 5-4

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Lansing Capitals 18U defeated Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U in a shootout 5-4.

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Lansing Capitals 18U's other shootout goal was scored by Mitchell Shier.

Lansing Capitals 18U overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lansing Capitals 18U fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U's Jonathan Kasper at 3:09 in the second period. Lansing Capitals 18U tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Zachary Roberts at 10:31 in the third period.

Lansing Capitals 18U forced Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U goalie Alex Androkites to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Lansing Capitals 18U was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.
