Huge game by Foppe boosts St. Louis Selects 18U over Atlanta Fire 18U, 3-0

Behind a great game by Corbin Foppe, who had two goals and one assist, St. Louis Selects 18U defeated Atlanta Fire 18U, 3-0.

Foppe's tallies came at 2:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis Selects 18U and 13:14 into the second to make the score 2-0 St. Louis Selects 18U.

Bradley Amato spearheaded the defensive effort for St. Louis Selects 18U, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 25 saves for the shutout. Amato certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.32 entering the contest.

St. Louis Selects 18U's penalty kill excelled, as St. Louis Selects 18U gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

St. Louis Selects 18U stifled Atlanta Fire 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Louis Selects 18U forced Atlanta Fire 18U goalie Nick Bretzger to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

St. Louis Selects 18U also got a goal from Jared Brandt as well. In addition, St. Louis Selects 18U received assists from Mitchell Miller, who had two and Brian Rupp and Michael Howard, who contributed one a piece.
