Midland squeaks by Caledon, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Midland Flyers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jordan Gravelle's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Caledon faces elimination next time out.

Midland was led by Gravelle, who tallied one goal. Gravelle scored 10:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Midland. Tyson Clark provided the assist.

The Flyers' offense rang up 32 shots on the Golden Hawks' net. Midland's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 10 power play opportunities.

Jason Leigh also scored for Midland. In addition, Midland received assists from Jonathan Goldsworthy, C J Cook, Matt Brown, and Nathanial Jessop, who contributed one a piece.

Caledon stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Steven Klomp, who had one goal. Klomp scored on the power play 11:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledon. Caledon earned a power play opportunity when Jacob Busch was put in the box for high sticking. Brett Bloor picked up the assist. Caledon also got a goal from Mark Smythe as well. Other players who recorded assists for Caledon were Patrick Savella, Justin Lollino, and Daniel Cafagna, who each chipped in one.

Connor Akins rejected 25 shots on goal for Midland. The Flyers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Paul Favaro recorded 28 saves for the Golden Hawks. Caledon totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Team's Savella and Zack Worth were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
