Fergus squeaks by Huntsville, 4-2

The game between the Fergus Devils and the Huntsville Otters was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fergus emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Devils gained the winning advantage on a goal by James Murray 9:48 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Huntsville faces elimination next time out.

Fergus' penalty kill excelled, as the Devils gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Fergus was paced by Murray, who had one goal.

The Devils' offense rang up 38 shots on the Otters' net.

Fergus also got a goal from Danny Belletti as well. In addition, Fergus received assists from Dylan Warford, who had two and James McLeod, Robert Ebach, and Luke Reinhart, who contributed one a piece.

Fergus was unable to stop Huntsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Otters eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Huntsville was led by Ben Muckler, who tallied two goals. Muckler scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. The Otters earned a power play opportunity when Brett Pierce was put in the box for holding. Brendan Fitter picked up the assist. Muckler's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Huntsville with 5:10 left in the first period. Shawn Fraser assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Jack Campbell and Ryan West, who each chipped in one.

Alex Elliott recorded 30 saves for the Devils. Fergus incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Huntsville's Alex Ebner stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Otters incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Huntsville, Andrew Cooke was ejected from the game.
