Robillard's hat trick boosts Ottawa over Cumberland, 6-3Navan Memorial Centre Tue, Feb 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Ben Robillard netted a hat trick to lead the Ottawa Senators over the Cumberland Grads, 6-3. Robillard notched his first tally 3:13 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:27 into the third and at 14:12 into the third.Cumberland's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Grads let up four goals while on the penalty kill. Cumberland was unable to stop Ottawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Senators eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Ottawa's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Senators average 3.4 goals per contest. Ottawa also got points from Greg Jansz, who also registered one goal and three assists. Trevor Packard also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Ryan Collins, Chris King, and Derek Brown, who contributed one a piece and Joe Shecter and Eric Clitsome, who each chipped in two. The Grads forced Ottawa goalie Alexandre Savard-Belanger to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Cumberland was helped by Mark Golberg, who had one goal and one assist. Golberg scored on the power play 12:27 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ottawa. A high sticking penalty on Mike Martin had put the Grads on the power play. Andrew DeBrincat provided the assist. Cumberland additionally got points from DeBrincat, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Colin Kruse as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Nick Martin, who had one and Riley Hennigar, who had three. The Senators' Savard-Belanger stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Reilly Turner made 32 saves for Cumberland on 37 shots. The Grads incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
