A four-goal first period deficit cost the Norfolk Rebels, which could not recover and fell to the Ayr Centennials, 17-2.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Norfolk faces elimination next time out.

Nick Hirs had two goals and two assists to lead Ayr. Hirs scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr. The Centennials had gotten the advantage when the Rebels' Clayton Charot was sent off for hooking. Mike Wilkins assisted on the tally. Hirs' next tally on the power play made the score 12-2 Ayr with 1:09 left in the second period. Ayr had gained a power play chance when Kent Wardell was whistled for holding. Jordan Pettitt picked up the assist.

Norfolk fell victim to a deadly the Centennials power play, which ripped the Rebels for seven goals.

Ayr made Norfolk's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 49 shots and forcing 32 saves. Jason Pachieko made 18 stops and Jason Miller made 14. The Centennials excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Ayr got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed seven goals during the game.

Mitch Figueirdo made 21 saves for the Centennials on 23 shots. Ayr incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Norfolk incurred 66 minutes in penalty time with 18 minors. The Rebels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brayden Dickinson was ejected from the game.
