Ayr takes care of Norfolk early, wins 7-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Norfolk Rebels, which could not recover and fell to the Ayr Centennials, 7-1.

The win gave Ayr a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Adam Fisher was all over the ice for the Centennials, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Fisher scored at 10:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr and again while 2:06 into the third to make the score 6-0 Ayr.

Ayr made Norfolk's netminders to work all game long, ripping 51 shots and forcing 44 saves. Jason Miller made seven stops and Alex Tipping made 37. The Centennials' power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 15 power play opportunities.

Ayr additionally got points from Brandon Christopher, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Ayr included Spencer Sweazy, who had one and Andrew Richard, who had two. More assists for Ayr came via Brett Gibson, who had three, Ben Poort, Declan Kaster, Connor McLeod, and Jordan Pettitt, who contributed one a piece, and Mike Wilkins and Alex Richard, who each chipped in two.

The Rebels stifled Ayr's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Norfolk also got a goal from Brayden Dickinson as well. In addition, Norfolk received assists from Ryan Galama, who had one.

Lee Doherty recorded 23 saves for the Centennials. Ayr ended with 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and two majors. Team's Fisher and Wilkins were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Norfolk totaled 79 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and three majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Rebels, Kurtis Pettitt, Kent Wardell, and Dylan Cole were ejected from the contest.
