Hawkesbury wins tough contest against Cumberland, 4-2Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Tue, Mar 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks and the Cumberland Grads were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hawkesbury made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Francis Landers at 5:34 of the third period. The Hawks were sparked by Landers, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 37 shots on Cumberland's net. Roman Ammirato also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Ryan Kruss, who had two and Ross Kovacs, Yanik Laliberte, Mac Blanchette, Holden Anderson, and Brett Varrin, who each chipped in one. The Grads were helped by Justin Pelock, who tallied one goal. Pelock scored on the power play 18:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Cumberland had taken the advantage when the Hawks' Tristen Elie got sent off for slashing. Colin Kruse assisted on the tally. Cumberland also got a goal from Matthew Morin as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Andrew DeBrincat, Matt Allan, and Riley Hennigar, who contributed one a piece. Carmine Guerriero made 27 saves for Hawkesbury on 29 shots. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Reilly Turner rejected 33 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
