Dorchester beats Mt.Brydges 4-3 after comeback scare

The Dorchester Dolphins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs on the way to a 4-3 win.

Dorchester took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Mt.Brydges storm back on a Sean Candler goal 4:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win by the Dolphins clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Brendon O Shaughnessy had two goals to lead Dorchester to victory. O Shaughnessy scored at 3:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Dorchester and again while 8:40 into the second to make the score 2-0 Dorchester.

The Dolphins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their four power plays. Mt.Brydges was unable to stop Dorchester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dolphins eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Matt Cormier also scored for Dorchester. More assists for Dorchester came via Brett Dzyngel, who had two and Shayne Rhyno, Jordan Fuller, Brady Veroughstraete, and Tommy Prokes, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Mt.Brydges additionally got points from Ryan Battersby, who also had one goal and one assist. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Spencer Wilson as well. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Grant Johns, David Wade, and Grant Duffield, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Hutcheson recorded 27 saves for Dorchester. The Dolphins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Eric Steinman made 38 saves for Mt.Brydges on 42 shots. The Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
