Dorchester uses big second period to beat Mt.Brydges, 6-1

The Dorchester Dolphins scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs and clinch a 6-1 win.

The win by Dorchester broke a deadlock and gave the Dolphins a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Dorchester's penalty kill excelled, as the Dolphins gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Dorchester was led by Matt Cormier, who tallied one goal. Cormier scored 4:37 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dorchester. Bryan McCauley provided the assist.

The Dolphins stifled Mt.Brydges' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dorchester's offense rang up 56 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

Dorchester additionally got points from Shayne Rhyno, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brendon O Shaughnessy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brady Veroughstraete also scored for Dorchester. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Matt Johnson, Connor McKay, and Tyler Blue, who contributed one a piece and Jordan Fuller and Liam Gillooly, who each chipped in two.

Patrick Maziarz rejected 19 shots on goal for the Dolphins. Dorchester incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Eric Steinman recorded 50 saves for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
