Dorchester beats Mt.Brydges 8-5 as O Shaughnessy gets hat trick

Brendon O Shaughnessy netted a hat trick to lead the Dorchester Dolphins over the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs, 8-5.

O Shaughnessy's first goal came 17:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:25 into the second and at 18:53 into the third.

With the win, Dorchester evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Mt.Brydges was unable to stop the Dolphins from sending pucks towards the net, and Dorchester eventually piled up 56 shots on goal.

Dorchester additionally got points from Liam Gillooly, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Chad Brulotte, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Bryan McCauley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Dorchester also got a goal from Brady Veroughstraete as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Tommy Prokes, who had three, Shayne Rhyno and Patrick Freel, who contributed one a piece, and Tyler Blue and Matt Cormier, who each chipped in two.

The Bulldogs forced the Dolphins goalie Patrick Maziarz to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Mt.Brydges' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Bulldogs were led by Grant Johns, who registered one goal and two assists. Johns scored 8:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mt.Brydges. Spencer Wilson picked up the assist. Mt.Brydges also got points from Tyler Lockwood, who also had one goal and one assist, Sean Candler, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Wilson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ryan Battersby also scored for Mt.Brydges. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Robert McTaggart, David Wade, and Cole Chilvers, who contributed one a piece.

Maziarz rejected 37 shots on goal for Dorchester. The Dolphins incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. Eric Steinman recorded 48 saves for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Mt.Brydges, Robert Mapes was ejected from the game.
