Thamesford beats Exeter 4-3 after comeback scare

The Exeter Hawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Thamesford Trojans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Thamesford made the score 4-2 on a goal by Brandyn Di Domenico at 8:11 in the third period, and Exeter got as close as 4-3 when Hayden Cann scored 14:01 into the third period.

The win gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Thamesford was led by Di Domenico, who grabbed one goal.

Judson Couture also scored for Thamesford. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were James Toye, Adam Levine, Beau Diloreto, Dylan Salter, Matt Higgins, Kyle Walker, and Justin Cooper, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Thamesford power plays. The Trojans were unable to stop Exeter from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Exeter also got points from Mitch Wild, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Exeter also got a goal from Zach Anderson as well. In addition, Exeter received assists from Brodie Balcom, who had two and Alex Deluce, Kalvin Thornton, and Ashton Waters, who contributed one a piece.

Thamesford's Tynan Lauziere stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Trojans incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Colton James made 21 saves for Exeter on 25 shots. The Hawks incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
