Delhi falls to Wellesley in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Wellesley Applejacks' Cody Tapsell scored 8:02 into overtime to beat the Delhi Travellers, 2-1 (OT).

The win by Wellesley clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Tapsell had two goals to lead the Applejacks to victory.

Wellesley's Josh Heer was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Heer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.77 entering the contest.

The Applejacks kept Delhi's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Heath made 50 saves on 52 shots. Wellesley took advantage of the Travellers' penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The Applejacks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Brett MacDonald, who had one and Devon Wagner, who had two.

Delhi forced Wellesley goalie Heer to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Travellers were led by Jeremy Jacobs, who scored the team's only goal. Jacobs scored on the power play 12:50 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Delhi had gotten the advantage when the Applejacks' Steven Tait was sent off for cross checking. Brad Ward provided the assist.

Wellesley incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Travellers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
