Burford's comeback falls short, Tavistock wins 4-3

The Burford Bulldogs almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Tavistock Braves managed to pull out a 4-3 win in the end.

Tavistock led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Braves' Andrew Schacht's scored at 18:03 in the first period to put Tavistock up 3-0.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Burford faces elimination next time out.

The Braves were sparked by Matthew Lupton, who had one goal. Lupton scored 10:35 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Tavistock.

Tavistock forced the Bulldogs' goaltenders to work all game long, launching 38 shots and forcing 34 saves. Don Davis made 21 stops and Ben Beechey made 13.

Jeremy Munro also scored for Tavistock. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Deven Kropf, who had one and Derek Cowing, who had two.

Burford forced the Braves goalie Tim Parker to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Bulldogs were helped by Jim Salatas, who racked up one goal. Salatas scored on the power play 6:29 into the third period to make the score 3-3. A roughing penalty on Charlie Malson had put Burford on the power play. Tyler Vandenbussche picked up the assist. Burford also got a goal from Tim Berberian as well. In addition, Burford received assists from Pat Bates and Matt Cartmel, who each chipped in one.

Tavistock's Parker stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Braves incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tavistock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Schacht was ejected from the game. The Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
