Beechey, Burford blank Tavistock, 5-0

Ben Beechey made 39 saves to complete the shutout and led the Burford Bulldogs to a 5-0 win against the Tavistock Braves.

The win moved Burford to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Jim Salatas had two goals to lead the Bulldogs to victory. Salatas scored at 3:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burford and again while 9:33 into the first to make the score 4-0 Burford.

Burford's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up zero goals despite allowing 13 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:07 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Burford stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Guy Polillo also scored for Burford. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were Tim Berberian, who had two and Kyle Chaney, Tyler Vandenbussche, Tyler MacLaughlin, Peter Janeck, Matt Cartmel, Cale Burbridge, and Scott Pennwarden, who each chipped in one.

The Braves' offense rang up 39 shots on Burford's net.

The Bulldogs totaled 66 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Burford, Blaise Burtnick and JJ Haroland were ejected from the contest. Tavistock's starting goalie, Tim Parker, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Taylor VanBockel, who stopped 10 shots. The Braves ended with 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and two majors. Team's Matthew Lupton and James McCorquodale were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
