Kalbfleisch's goals lift Tavistock to 5-2 victory over BurfordBurford Community Centre Tue, Jan 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves relied on the scoring touch of Mac Kalbfleisch, who netted two goals, to beat the Burford Bulldogs, 5-2. Kalbfleisch's tallies came on the power play at 19:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Tavistock and 2:08 into the third to make the score 4-2 Tavistock.The win gave Tavistock a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Braves stifled Burford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tavistock forced the Bulldogs goalie Don Davis to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Jake Mock also scored for Tavistock. More assists for Tavistock came via Derek Cowing, who had three and Matthew Lupton, Jordan Ritsma, Andrew Schacht, Chris Newcombe, and Josh Zehr, who contributed one a piece. Burford kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Parker made 30 saves on 32 shots. The Bulldogs were helped by Adam Harris, who tallied one goal. Harris scored 1:21 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Tavistock. JJ Haroland assisted on the tally. Burford also got a goal from Tyler MacLaughlin as well. In addition, Burford received assists from Tyler Vandenbussche, who had two. Tavistock incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Don Davis made 36 saves for Burford on 40 shots. The Bulldogs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
