Frontier holds on for 5-4 win against NAHL 18 SelectsTroy Sports 4 Wed, Feb 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Frontier survived a determined comeback attempt by NAHL 18 Selects on the way to a 5-4 win. Frontier took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have NAHL 18 Selects storm back on a Jalen Schulz goal 10:01 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Frontier was paced on offense by Zac Lazzaro and Brad Duwe, who combined for four points. Lazzaro had two goals and one assist and Duwe also added one goal. Frontier launched just 37 shots, fewer than the team's 49.7-shot per game average. Frontier also got a goal from Chris Kerr as well. In addition, Frontier received assists from Matt Salituro, who had two and Nick Hinz, Max McHugh, Jacob Barber, and Dan Sherer, who each chipped in one. NAHL 18 Selects managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. NAHL 18 Selects ended up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. NAHL 18 Selects kept Frontier's goalie busy throughout the game, and Macauley Haight made 35 saves on 39 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Scott Conway also scored for NAHL 18 Selects. Other players who recorded assists for NAHL 18 Selects were Brady Ferguson, who had two and Brandon Hawkins, Tyler Andrew, Eric Brenk, Mason Morelli, and CJ Smith, who contributed one a piece. Frontier ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Jason Pawloski took the loss and made 22 saves before being replaced by Evan Cowley who made 10 saves. NAHL 18 Selects registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
